Dense shaded forest
Family: Dogwood
Common Name: Bunchberry
Latin Name: Cornus Canadensis
Identification is for the plant on left. Plant in center and right are same but unidentified.
Family: Borage
Common Name: Tall Lungwart
Latin Name: Mertensia paniculata
These plants are quite tall, making collection of the whole plant difficult.
Unidentified. Bottom plant may be Bishop’s Cap. Bishop’s Cap grows in large clusters, creeping along the ground.
Unidentified. Plant on left could be cleavers, but it wasn’t sticky enough.
Family: Caprifoliaceae
Common Name: Twin Flower
Latin Name: Linnaea borealis
Same as second next specimen, but before flowering stage. This plant is very long, and it took quite some time to find its end. I had to cut it to fit in the press. The two protruding roots at the end were just beginning to push their way into the ground.
Family: Borage
Common Name: Starflower
Latin Name: Trientalis Borealis
Identification is for top plant. Bottom plant was extremely long ( 5 feet?), and I only cut the end. Towards the root there were far more leaves. It would grow overtop of other low growing plants for light, but would not wrap around them.
Family: (Wintergreen?)
Common Name: One Flowered Wintergreen, Single Delight
Latin Name: Moneses uniflora
Top Three plants. White flowers.
Family: Caprifoliaceae
Common Name: Twin Flower
Latin Name: Linnaea borealis
Bottom Right. Light purple/pink flowers.
Family: Pyrola
Common Name: Common Pink Wintergreen
Latin Name: Pyrola asarifolia
Bottom Left. White flowers.
Family: Heath
Common Name: Labrador Tea
Latin Name: Lidum groenlandicum
Labrador Tea grows like a bush or shrub in large clusters. Plant on left.
Family: Clubmoss
Common Name: (Common Clubmoss?)
Latin Name:
These small plants look like a forest of pine trees. The lower connecting stem was not visible from a distance.
Really cool! I’m following you!
